  ipw2200-source - Source for the ipw2200 driver
    This package provides the source code for the ipw2200 kernel modules.
    Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 (IPW2200) mini PCI adapter is a common component
    of Centrino notebooks.

    In order to compile these modules you need the kernel sources (or the
    kernel headers for the kernel image packages from Debian). For compile
    instructions look into /usr/share/doc/ipw2200-source/README.Debian or
    simply use the module-assistant utility.

    Please note that ipw2200 only supports being built for Linux kernel
    versions 2.6.4 and greater.

  ipw2200 for Debian
  ------------------
  
  Please see ./README.ipw2200.gz for a description of the ipw2200 driver.
  
  
  How to compile the driver
  -------------------------
  
  Install prerequisite packages: build-essential, kernel-headers-$VERSION, where
  $VERSION is the version of the kernel you want to build the driver for, and
  ieee80211-source.
  
  Please note that ipw2200 only supports being built for Linux kernel versions
  2.6.4 and greater.
  
  Change directory to /usr/src:
  $ cd /usr/src
  
  Unpack the tarball with the driver sources:
  $ tar xzf ipw2200-source.tar.gz
  
  Now you have two options:
  
  1) Use module-assistant
  
    Build and install the module package (as root)  with
    # module-assistant a-i ipw2200
  
    If something goes wrong follow the given instructions.
  
  2) Build the module manually
  
    Change directory to the sources root:
    $ cd modules/ipw2200
  
    Build the module:
    $ fakeroot debian/rules binary-modules \
         KSRC=/usr/src/kernel-headers-$VERSION KVERS=$VERSION
  
    where $VERSION must be replaced by the exact version string of the
    kernel you want to build the module for (e.g. 2.6.5-1-686).
  
    Install the module package (as root with dpkg -i) which can be found
    now in /usr/src/modules.
  
  
  ipw2200 drivers installation
  ----------------------------
  
  Before installing the ipw2200 modules, make sure you installed the
  ieee80211 modules built for your current kernel version. See the
  ieee80211-source package for ways to build it.
  
  
  ipw2200 drivers and firmware loading
  ------------------------------------
  
  Please note that for the ipw2200 drivers to correctly load the firmware
  through hotplug, the /sys filesystem needs to be mounted. See hotplug's
  documentation for more information.
